Fred Larson, a local photographer was our guest speaker for the Fort Dodge Camera Club meeting last night (Wed 3/21/18). He brought in a bunch of his old film prints and told so many stories about all his experiences. You know the quote “a photograph is just a photograph until it’s all you have left”? Well Fred truly showed that with the passion he had in his work and the love he spoke with about his family. Talking about his mother being so strong going to work to support 5 sons after his father was killed, and his “beautiful bride” and their trips to church warmed my heart so much. Did you know he took photos of presidents?? YEP! How cool is that?! Photographs are all he has left of them and he is so proud of them! I learned so much about having passion and love for your work and appreciating what you have from him it was so precious. Thank you Fred for taking time out of your night to speak with us!

Hi, I am Brooke , I am 20 years old, I am a photographer from a small town in Northwest Iowa. I love to laugh and have a good time so I spend a lot of time with my friends. I am really family oriented so I try not to go too far from my hometown. I really enjoy driving country roads and listening to music, I always have music playing no matter what. I am a makeup fanatic so if I am not behind the camera you will more than likely find me at my vanity testing out new makeup looks. I can’t get through my day without at least one cup of coffee. I am also shopaholic but I shop at mostly thrift stores and second hand stores. Finding good deals just makes shopping more fun for me. Though being a shopaholic, I love being outside and getting dirty. Hunting and Fishing with my dad and brother is the perfect way to spend a Sunday. View all posts by brookemichelleportraitdesigns
